magnificient fish & ship

The magnificient fish & chips bar
28 Changkat Bukit Bintang,KL
tel: 03-2142 7021

..2 weeks back, a friend from Ipoh came down to attend an exhibition + seminars..thought would be a good time to catch up..so we planned on doin brunch on sunday..Brunch didnt quite be it,it most more like lunch as we got to place bout 1 pm.
finding a good place to eat doesn't seem to be an easy task that particular day for someone like me who loves to eat and indulge..factors to consider #1 near to KL Convention Center (place to pick up and drop off my friend), #2 yummy food #03 open on Sunday ..but thank god for KLUE!

I recall i had a copy of the recent March issue..so flipped through the pages and found some interesting restaurants and cafe over at Changkat Bukit Bintang.I was thought that place was more of a nightlife place..shops only open at night..i was totally wrong..

So we picked him up (ohh Eddie is his name by the way)..and head off to Changkat Bukit Bintang for lunch. We had 2 options 1. Relish which serves gourmet burgers, meaning 2 inch thick Aussie imported beef or fresh chicken breast and with all the condiments 2. Magnificient Fish & Chips..and we opt for the 2nd choice.

The set up of the place was very welcoming, cozy feeling..feels like a good place to be on Sunday for lunch with good companies of people..

Our orders:

#01 The Weekend Special Roast Beef
#02 Bangers & Mash (sausages and mash potatoes)
#03 Dory Fish & Chips
#04 Salmon

Overall we all loved their Roast Beef..*thumbs up*

And also they served their breakfast menu all day long!

Be glad of life...

" because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at stars; to be satisfied with your possessions, but not contented with yourself until you have made the best of them; to despise nothing in the world except falsehood and meanness, and to fear nothing except cowardice; to be governed by your admiration rather than by your disgusts; to covet nothing that is your neighbour's except his kindness of heart and gentleness of manners; to think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends; to spend as much time as you can, with body and with spirit- these are little guideposts on the footpath of peace".

the gathering

"True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation."

~George Washington~

vow to friendship
through the years of growing pains,
our friendship continue to flourish and walk the extra miles..
never forgets to keep in touch despite the hectic schedule that me and you have..
of course along the way we grow apart and went on different paths
but eventually will meet again at the crossway
faith is what keeps us together
friendship rekindle, renew and giving more purpose to life..
reaches out for each other hands and touches each other hearts...

hangout@mt emily

readers..pardon me as this is a pretty overdue post to be..
..it was during my visit down to spore back in Jan.

not quite sure whats going on in spore as each weekends most hotels are fully booked and getting a room in spore is not as easy as it used to be.you need to pre-booked like 3 weeks in advance and that also you are not entitled to a good deal on the room rates.over the short one year period, there has been an upsurge of 30% on the hotel room rates..oh boy..crazy sporean..the kiasuism has not killed them but spreading like an epidermic in the Hospitality side...*Sporean readers: Pardon me for being so discourteously blunt *
as usual making my regular visit down to spore for meetings..call up the hotels a week before my meeting schedule and as predicted and expected no rooms even hotels that charged up to SGD 300++ per night! What the heck!As i was browsin through i managed to find this place Hangout @ mt emily

decent looking place, reasonable priced and best of all the whole ikea lookin concept..bingo this is it!so made my booking through online..their website http://www.hangouthotels.com/

is one place that is well kept secret about..why?.to my amazed most sporean don't even know the existence of this place from what i gather through my converstation with my sporean dealers and customers ..

the place is cozy, the staffs are really friendly and nice too..the only draw backs of the place 1. no tv in the rooms (they have a shared community tv in level 2 where the hang out place is) 2. there is no broadband nor wireless connection in the room (the pc and internet is at level 2 as well, is FOC and 24 hours surfing)

breakfast is provided and the have great view of spore being on the hill top and there is a great park opposite the place..the mt emily park.

sure yes my next and future stay will be at hangout @ my emily.
oh yea..even if you do not stay at the hangout, is still a good place to dine and chill out..they have a great restaurant downstairs wild rocket at mount emily..awarded as one of spore best restaurant 2006..owned and run by Willin Low who is a lawyer-turned cook..so check it out the next time you head down to spore..if this is not convincing enought, check it out at their website www.wildrocket.com.sg... if you just want to drink and chill out check out the next door wild oats bars on the hill (WO). Great set up in colonial mansion surrounded by the garden and greens..

marmalade cafe @ bangsar village II

marmalade cafe #2nd branch
11 march,sunday
an old uni mate called up last week.proposed to meet up over the weekend as it has been super overdue since the last we saw each each other. being happy that she finally called and make the attempt to meet up, how can i resist to such invitation. so we decided to check out this new cafe in bangsar village II which open a few months ago..is called marmalade on the 2nd floor. They do have one in Mt. Kiara but the one in Mt Kiara gives a lil "claustrophobic" feel.

the one here in bangsar village II offers a spacious set up.
...snaphot taken of the mural drawn on the selective walls at marmalade cafe..

the yummy lookin turkey quiche that was Karen ordered..

being 1st time to the outlet here in BV II i set my expectations low..to my amazed, there is a great wide selection of food from salads, pies, quiche, sandwishes, pizza, pasta and the awesome desserts..and yea they are famous for their carrot cake..but the rest of the cakes looks super duper yummy too...usually i got this great appetite for dessert..savin my stomach for the best indulgence..but i was just too full..so i only end up havin my cuppa chamomile lavender tea with two lil mini cupcakes..the cupcakes were really cute and yummy...

..desserts never fails me..
mini cupcakes strawberry and chocolate
accompanied by the soothing cuppa chamomile lavender tea and served with honey instead of the sugar sachets..

love the setting up of the ambience..looks very simple with its deco but gives the very cheery happy mood..good choice of place to go for lunch on a sunday..
it was a good place for meet up, a place to un-wind and of course good eating place to be..highly recommended for brunch/lunch doing

missy lifestyle queen

"Missy lifestyle, the queen of all happenings"

here's a long time overdue tribute to one fantastic chiq whom i am connected closely to..no other than missy lifestyle herself..the one and only ever known in the century..miss jessie low

isn' the pic sizzlin hot..the glamourous side missy lifestyle

here's the story..the existence of jessie in your life is like havin rainbows created 24-7 colourful, amazing and stunned by the unexpected lil surprises..that she will charms you away with the witty brain (she may look like your bimbo to be but you are so so wrong..even if she was she would be your intellectual bimbo..straight A student for record)..you will be entertained 24-7 with her stories, the saucy hot gossips and of course guys be drowned in her cuteness and the once a while innocence lil girlie side..kawaii ne..

lets look at what's like being missy lifestyle ..

lil missy lifestyle never stops to enjoy life despites the downs and the hurdles along the way..she works hard, play hard, shops hard and party hard too..
being in the banking industry..never stop this lil missy to have good times at her fav leisure..spells SHOPPING..which in my dictionary would regard as 1st degree suicidal shopaholic..highest ultimate level of one shopaholics..is always a girls' most theraupic remedy to stress..and of course there will be the days to chill and un-wind..

lil missy loves travelling too..going places keeps her spirit high and makes life much more exciting..be it by air,sea or land..she keeps walking and walking..

as she explore and conquers the islands of M'sia, walk the land of Aussie, explore the Japanese culture, shop the streets of Hong Kong, and roam the land of Bali..

lil missy lifestyle is still going places..and marking down the next destinations..mind you destination with a "S"..

remember my lil souvenirs yea.

with the exposure of travelling, comes the luxury to patronizin the poshy hotels and resorts, dining at the finer restaurants..savourin the finest food and wines. there is a saying "most people eat to live but non applicable to missy lifestyle as she continue to indulge her way thru the cafes, delis, restaurants, clubs and bars..
there are great connoisseurs in arts, wines, music but this lil missy is one connoisseurs in lifestyle..be it in shopping, partying,travelling...and would consider myself lucky to known such a chiq...existed in this century..the bubbly full of zest to life jessie..

despites the great lifestyle she livin, she is also great friend to be..never fails to provide the strength and courage especially thru shitty times, givin me the love, hope and faith in all that i do..thanks babe

truly a great gem..
*applaud*
jessie, sorry it took a while before i posted this..

in fact i was waiting for the right moment to come..and nothing beats this moment..the moment to celebrate your existence..this very day..

happy birthday girl..a birthday tribute to the one chiq who deserve all the credentials!

Four of us went on and indulged ourself..me, eddie, my sister and her boyfriend See Hee.

we decided to share the main dishes..get to taste a bit of everythin'!

we took the advice of the supervisor on some of the recommended dishes..

OUR CHOICE:

#01 Caesar in basket

#02 Byblos - mix of seafood with mash potato with red dotted chilli

#03 Grappa - pasta; spagetti with corn, grapes and olives..very appetizing

#04 German sausage -apparently is a great demand order esp from the ladies

..we were really full..but i was still not happy and not leaving without my desserts!

Me want dessert and i get kinda fussy with my dessert selections..and so happen the dessert of the day just rocks..melt my heart away..

it was white and dark chocolate truffles with figs..accompanied by 2 glasses of panna cotta with strawberry..*slurps*

one dessert didnt seem fulfilling and enough to satisfy a dessert lover like me..

so we had another dessert "macerated cherri, blueberry and strawberry with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream"..ohh gosh it was yummy..

and last but not least my ever cuppa camomile tea to sooth down my hectic day..and it had to be served with honey and not sugar!

all in all was a good trip down to ipoh especially i got to indulge to the max at the none other "Indulgence"..well deserving for them to win the "Pastry chef of the year 2005, Hospitality Asia Award"

*the happy contented missy deus venia*

new year .. mardi gras 2007

the countdown..to 2007..sayonara 2006!

date: 31st dec 2006
time: 4 am-till late
venue: The curve
reckon best for us to spend the new year at somewhere nearby and cozy rather than stuck in the massive traffic down town..

we started our so-called outing to curve to spend the new year as early as 4pm..how we kill those hours before the countdown?

#01 walk around, take pic..pose around

#02 had ice cream (lecka lecka 98% fat free)

..if you guys read robert's blog..on the ice cream, chocolate and sex..the intellectual conversation strike between joanne and edwin..

Joanne: Do you know that ice cream makes you happy?
Edwin: Yea, so does chocolate ..and sex..
Joanne:True..but sex you need two person, where else ice cream and chocolate you can do it
alone.
Edwin: Have you ever heard of masturbation?
Joanne: (Me being bimbo (undefeated)..) well..but you need so much energy for that.
Edwin: Eating needs energy too
Joanne (Fine! No point arguing on it)

So what happen next..? We had a survey poll..and is proven that 10 out of 10 guys will choose sex instead of ice cream and chocolate..that makes them happy!
The conversation got prolonged to the part that my guys friends had all these crazy ideas of combining all the 3-ice cream, chocolate and sex together! (which makes a man happier!)So there you have it the tory of ice cream, chocolate and sex!

Back to the new year story..

Instead of hangin out at laundry we decided to spend it upstair at the new place "the santuary" whereby is a 4-in-one concept, the restaurant, the music, the bar including the 1st ever Malaysia ice bar -10C..So we booked table for 11 pax and after all the table choosing, we realized that they do not served ala carte for today.there was only new year eve menu and cost cheapest RM 89++.Whoa..skipped!Contigency plan...We came to agreement that we should just save our money for drinkin..The all night drinkin rather than spendin it on the expensive dinner..so we end up spending RM 3 for our dinner (Dinner: ikea hotdog +mineral water).

#03 Spend some time at "The santuary"..find our feng shui place as well as get ourself entertained to the atmos, the statues..

Initially we had a small group of 11 people..and then the no adds on and more people were coming..at the end of the night we had to bring in almost 30 people! They imposed cover charge of RM 40 that day..and lil miss deus venia got all the 30 people in for free..and of course we did open quite a number of bottles..think we had 7 bottles of johnny walker.

happy moments..(#01 johnny walker and mervyn,
#02 kenny,foonyee,joanne,joshua,kimmy,#03 the santuary
#04 elaine & me, #05 joshua,kimmy and me)
the countdown..the 10 mins of fireworks!

well..was a good nite out..a good spent new year eve!cant wait till next year countdown..
